If you’re feeling drawn to juicing, but not sure where to start, this will help.

During my healing process I found juicing to be the best way to help my body absorb the nutrients needed to help me heal.  It allowed my body easy access to the nutrients without exhausting my body having to digest the food.

I have included many recipes for different ailments, but the best guide is your own body.

I have also included a list of ailments along with fruits and vegetables that have been found beneficial for that particular issue.  You will notice that some fruits and vegetables are useful for many ailments.  This is why my first juice listed, is the one I go to the most.

I welcome feedback and am more than happy to include any recipes that you have found to be beneficial.

The important thing is to experiment.

If one ingredient does taste right, or you find something else more beneficial, change it.  There’s no set recipe, add and remove fruits and vegetables till you find the right combination.

Below are some tips that will help those of you who are perhaps juicing for the first time. When choosing veggie combinations, think about what might taste good when combined together.

And remember those with the most vibrant colours (Red, Purple, Green) are usually the highest in anti-oxidants.

Base Veggies                     Cucumber, Celery, Bok Choy, Cabbage, Romaine Lettuce,

+

Leafy Greens                     Spinach, Kale, Dandelion, Red Chard, Broccoli Stems, Collards

+

Sweeteners                        Green Pear, Green Apple, Beetroot, Grapefruit, Carrot

+

Alkalizers                            Lemon, Lime

+

Detoxifiers                         Mint, Parsley, Basil, Cilantro (Chinese Parsley)

+

Superfoods                        Ginger, Garlic, Cayenne, Spirulina, Chlorella, Chia Seeds, Maca, Apple Cider Vinegar, Turmeric, Wheatgrass, Sprouts

Coconut water can be added after juicing to increase the yield and to keep fluid and electrolytes balanced. The potassium may also help to balance out the sodium effect on blood pressure.
